Def Jam Also Partners With No I.D. to Launch Artium Recordings

Prolific Hip Hop Producer No I.D. (Kanye West, Big Sean, Rick Ross, Method Man, NAS) has been appointed Executive Vice President of A&R for Def Jam Recordings.  In addition, Def Jam has signed an exclusive label deal for No I.D.'s Artium Recordings.  The announcements were made today by Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO of Universal Republic and Island Def Jam Motown and Karen Kwak, EVP / Head of A&R, Island Def Jam Music Group. No I.D. will report directly to Mr. Weiss and Ms. Kwak.

In his new post, No I.D. will have a comprehensive, broad reaching A&R portfolio. Besides overseeing current and new artist projects, he will actively seek out, discover and sign new talent to his label, and will work closely as a producer for artists on the Def Jam roster and its affiliated labels across all genres of music.

"No I.D. is one of the hottest and most well-respected hip hop producers of our era," said Mr. Weiss. "His years of mentoring and developing artists in the studio should serve him perfectly in his new A&R role and will surely help take Def Jam to the next level."

"I'm proud of the success I've had with so many of the great artists and songwriters at Def Jam," No I.D. said.  "The Def Jam brand is cultural and iconic, and I'm excited to be working closely with the artists, Barry, Karen and the team in what promises to be an incredible new phase in my career."

No I.D. has worked as a producer with the biggest names in hip hop, including IDJ artists Kanye West, Big Sean, Rick Ross, Method Man, and currently NAS.  No I.D. has also worked with such rap giants as Jay-Z, Common, Drake, Kid Cudi, G-Unit, and many others.
